The facebook-based game publisher Zynga has announced it lost over 3 million users in its last quarter according to The Wall Street Journal. Zynga went from 62 million users in the previous quarter to just 59 million users. The company blames the decline in users on the fact that the company did not launch any new games in early 2011.
Zynga announced that its profit went down to $1.3 million from over $27 million last year. The company recorded overall revenues of over 275 million for this quarter. The numbers are still high for Zynga, however it did not meet the expected growth that they expected this year. Zynga is expected to laungh its IPO by the end of 2011. The stock launch is expected to raise $1 billion for Zynga and give the company a market value of $20 billion.

It's a case of Déjà vu all over again with the Playstation network down for some users again. The official twitter page @Playstation has confirmed there are some issues with their network again!
The tweet states "We're aware that some of you are having issues trying to log into PSN. We're working to resolve the issue, and we'll update you here". So far Sony has not provided any information on the root cause of the problems with the Playstation Network. Sony has not released a time timeframe on when they expect these issues to be resolved.
This issue with the Playstation Network reminds many of its users of what happened back in April, when a cyber attack by Lulzsec caused Sony to shutdown it's Playstation Network for several weeks. The attack by Lulzsec exposed the personal information of it's tens of millions of registered users. Full service was restored by June and Sony provided a compensation for its downtime.
Sony CEO Howard Stringer said that the Playstation Network is more secure and better than ever after these attacks and that they have more than 3 million new customers since the network came back online in June. Something must be amiss here.

Samsung is fighting back on a recent ban of the Samsung Galaxy Tab in Europe and Australia. The Korea Times Website says that Samsung is trying to ban the iPhone 5 smart-phone in South Korea claiming that the device is violating Samsung’s patents in wireless technology. The article quotes an unnamed Samsung executive saying “For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights.”
Apple and Samsung have been disputing their cases for months in several countries, including the United States regarding their various patents. Apple claims that Samsung’s products including many of its smart-phones and Galaxy Tab Tablets have copied both the designs and the user interface of Apple’s iPhone and iPad products. Ironically, Samsung is actually one of Apple’s largest suppliers of parts for the iPhone devices.
